As the clock draws patient breath
And pulls my focus tentative
Unto the thousand natural shocks
And wants desired, yet unexpressed
This questioned thought decides my lie
“There is no time, there is no time!”
For follies such as happiness
Or seconds spent to underline
That you, my love, lie colder now
A hollowed need that fills my spine
With venom spent in labours lost
This confidence is undermined
And yet, when summers vacant glare
Returns the heart to o’erjoyed
These questions hard in winters test
Transform to ones I can avoid
So now my love, lie soft, lie still
And wait with me till seasons end
I will remain, at any cost
Your enemy, your love, your friend.....
